Last week, Lillian Yanez represented our district at the SkillsUSA Washington Leadership Training Institute (WLTI) in Washington, D.C.! 🇺🇸✈️
Lillian earned her spot at WLTI by achieving the Texas Statesman Award during Leadership Camp in Hunt, TX this summer. While in Washington, she:
✅ Participated in leadership sessions on advocating for Career & Technical Education (CTE) funding. ✅ Met with the offices of our U.S. Senators and Representatives. ✅ Explored historic sites while learning about the history and function of our government.
Her hard work paid off with an incredible honor—earning the U.S. Statesman Award, an achievement awarded to fewer than 500 students nationwide each year! 🎖️ Even more impressive, Lillian was the only student in our district to receive this distinction.
We are so proud of her dedication, leadership, and commitment to representing our community at the national level. 👏

Basketball season is here—time to start marking your calendars!
Let’s show our support for our neighbors in Sterling City and especially for Grace. Just like The Energy Bus teaches, positivity and support are contagious—let’s all hop on board, wear grey tomorrow, and lift Grace up in prayer!

The GCFFA Build-Off team consisting of Sterling Schwartz, Grady Ivins, Kelton Fuchs, and Caleb Stewart hit the road early yesterday to travel to Ralls for their second build-off of the year. The team was tasked with creating a chiminea based off of a set of plans and an example. The team finished the day in 4th place. We are proud of the hard work, skill, and teamwork you showed out there!
Meanwhile, Helen Marshall and Ivy Braden competed on Saturday and Sunday in the Speak Out for Agriculture Challenge at the Heart O' Texas Fair in Waco. In the first two rounds, each student had to give 90 second mini speeches on two different agricultural topics to a panel of judges. After tabulation, Ivy Braden earned a spot in the sweet 16 (out of 70 competitors) where she participated in a discussion panel focused on an agricultural issue. Both students learned a ton and built connections for the future.
