Another Great Day for BBQ at the Tried and True Fundraiser Cookoff! 🔥
What an amazing weekend in Greenwood at the Tried and True Fundraiser Cookoff, sanctioned by the Champions BBQ Alliance! 🏆 The kids took on a new challenge this time — each assigned specific meats — and they absolutely crushed it! 💪
Even though they were competing, they still helped each other out and cheered one another on. The teamwork and energy were incredible! 🙌
Results:
🐖 6th Place Pork – Aubrey & Reagan
🍖 7th Place Ribs – Sara & Sophie
🥩 8th Place Steak (Jackpot) – Grady
🔥 10th Place Overall – Aubrey, Reagan, Shooter, Harrison, Grady, Sara & Sophie
KidsQ Pork Chop Results:
5️⃣ Grady
6️⃣ Reagan
7️⃣ Sara
8️⃣ Aubrey
9️⃣ Harrison
🔟 Sophie
It’s so exciting to hear the growing cheers as this young team keeps picking up fans — they’re really making their mark in the BBQ world! 💥
For some, this was their very first competition, and for others their second — but together they’re climbing the rankings and proving that teamwork, practice, and passion pay off! 👏
Huge THANK YOU to our amazing mentors, Scooter-N-Clarke and West TX BBQ Bash for guiding and supporting our young pitmasters, and to all the **parents, volunteers, and Mrs. Marr** for showing up and cheering them on! ❤️
Next up: Grape Creek HS Fall Festival – Battle of the Pitmasters in two weeks!

Let’s celebrate with fun dress-up days, contests, and powerful conversations all week long!

San Angelo, TX — District 2 SkillsUSA Historian Lillian Yanez, representing GCISD, took the lead in empowering student leaders from across the region during the District 2 SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Workshop, held in San Angelo on Wednesday.
Yanez, assisted by a fellow officer from (ECISD), led an engaging workshop introducing students to the wide range of competitive events available through SkillsUSA. The interactive session used a charades-style game to help participants explore categories such as leadership, technical skills, and occupational contests in a fun and memorable way.
Over 150 students from schools across District 2 attended the workshop, gaining valuable insight into how SkillsUSA competitions help develop career-readiness, teamwork, and professional skills.
The District Fall Leadership Workshop is an annual event designed to prepare SkillsUSA members for a successful year of leadership and competition. Through sessions like Yanez’s, students build confidence, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of the organization’s mission to empower the next generation of skilled professionals.
