GCISD Student Leader Inspires Peers at District 2 SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Workshop
San Angelo, TX — District 2 SkillsUSA Historian Lillian Yanez, representing GCISD, took the lead in empowering student leaders from across the region during the District 2 SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Workshop, held in San Angelo on Wednesday.
Yanez, assisted by a fellow officer from (ECISD), led an engaging workshop introducing students to the wide range of competitive events available through SkillsUSA. The interactive session used a charades-style game to help participants explore categories such as leadership, technical skills, and occupational contests in a fun and memorable way.
Over 150 students from schools across District 2 attended the workshop, gaining valuable insight into how SkillsUSA competitions help develop career-readiness, teamwork, and professional skills.
The District Fall Leadership Workshop is an annual event designed to prepare SkillsUSA members for a successful year of leadership and competition. Through sessions like Yanez’s, students build confidence, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of the organization’s mission to empower the next generation of skilled professionals.
