How can I be prepared as a parent?

As the possibility of winter weather approaches later this week, GCISD is prepared to keep families informed and safe.

Stay in the loop:
- Check and ensure your contact information, specifically your cell phone number, is current in Parent Portal - bit.ly/KATSPARENT
- Visit the GCISD website at www.gckats.net for most current updates

When will we know if there is a schedule change?
- GCISD Superintendent and Maintenance Director work with the GCSO to closely monitor weather conditions and consider multiple factors before making any schedule adjustments.
- Decisions regarding delays or cancellations are typically made by 5:30AM and communicated no later than 6:00AM. Early dismissal decisions will be shared as soon as possible.
- If no announcement is made, schools will operate on a regular schedule.

Weather conditions can change quickly, and Glasscock County ISD will communicate updates as promptly as possible.

Good Morning!
We are excited to share some construction updates. You can find more details here: https://bit.ly/KATS26

Did you know?
- The playground for the daycare is underway!
- We have sold the house on the corner of North Bryan Street. It will be moved in the near future. The other three homes will be sold this spring—be on the lookout!
- Six new homes are being built on Mesquite Street. This plan helps us prepare for next year’s staff housing needs.

How can you help with the upcoming construction?
- Be prepared for changes in the parking lots.
- Watch carefully in the parking lots, as we will have additional people on site.
- Share these updates with families who do not currently have students on campus to help us get communication out community-wide.

It’s a great day to be a Bearkat!

Glasscock County ISDS is sharing the Federal and School Report Cards as required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). These reports provide information about student achievement, accountability ratings, and district performance. We encourage families and community members to review the reports to learn more about our schools and the work being done to support student success.

We are incredibly grateful to WHC Energy Services for donating all of these bicycles to our students! There are two bikes for every grade level (boy and girl), PK–6th grade.

In the spirit of Rule #10 from The Energy Bus — “Have fun and enjoy the ride!”, we want to celebrate students who bring positive energy, make good choices, and show up ready to learn each day.

For our elementary awards on January 13th, every student who has earned a bus ticket this semester will have their name entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of these bikes.
