GCISD Holiday Break

Congrats to Bearkat Football Players Brody Walts and Preston Dehlinger for being named to the TSMCA All-Region Football Team! Brody was named to the 2nd Team, and Preston was named Honorable Mention, Way to go Kats! #GCPride

The culinary students spent the last few weeks designing and constructing gingerbread houses from scratch. Through some mishaps and challenges emerged some masterpieces! Projects were entered in the Christmas at the Courthouse community event, where they enjoyed the community participation as well as winning some prize money! These projects and more will be entered into our District SkillsUSA competition in February as well. Beyond proud of these students for all of their hard work!

This was our first year competing in the National FCCLA Online Challenge Tests but GCISD students showed up in a big way! We had 9 National winners! These students chose their testing area and studied for a proctored national exam in order to compete. They will advance to the in-person Challenge Test in Orlando, Florida in July to compete next. Congratulations to all of our winners and we can’t wait for them to compete again for the chance to walk across the National stage! GCISD FCCLA is on a roll already this year.

Exciting news! Our high school and middle school FCCLA members qualified a team for National Contest in the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl! A team of 5 students will represent our school in Orlando, Florida in July to compete in the live championship rounds. Teams will compete answering questions about Personal Finance, Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Technology, Health & Safety, Environment and Knowledge about FCCLA.
