GC School News, April 8, 2009

Upcoming this week:

· Tomorrow is an early release for GCISD. Buses will run at 12:15. Elementary students have Easter parties and egg hunts.

· Friday, April 10, is a school holiday.

· Our HS district tennis meet finishes up today here at GC.

· Tomorrow is HS district track meet at Roby. The meet begins at 9am.

· Also tomorrow our JH track team travels to Midland Trinity to a track meet, while our JH tennis goes to Forsan.

Upcoming next week:

· Monday, April 13, is a school holiday.

· Freshmen will have letter jacket fittings next Tuesday, April 14, in the library. We will begin at 8am.

· Cheerleader tryouts will be next Wednesday, April 15. Girls trying out for HS cheerleader begin at 1:30.

· Next Thursday, April 16, is class group pictures for elementary students. You can expect order forms next week.

· Next Friday marks the end of the fifth six weeks.

· Our HS computer programming team goes to state competition next Saturday, April 18, in Tyler.

· Also next Saturday our JH TMSCA students who qualified for the state competition travel to San Antonio.

Kat Sports:

· On Monday, our golf teams finish the second round of district in Big Spring.

· For those that qualify, Area track is next Thursday, April 16, at Trent.

· JH track has their district meet next Friday, April 17, at Water Valley.

· Saturday, April 18, our JH tennis team will be at Reagan County.

Starting next Friday, students will be able to participate in Caps For Cures. Any student who wants to wear a hat to school on any Friday can pay $1. The money will go towards the Relay for Life fund and other find-a-cure causes, such as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis cause. We will have this fundraiser for the remainder of the school year each Friday.

Reminder

TAKS Week is April 27-May 1. Every student in grades three through eleven will have at least one or more tests sometime that week. If you have any appointments scheduled for your child during this week, please reschedule them. It’s important to have everyone here. Thanks for your help and cooperation.
