Special Education Notice
The term special education means specifically designed instruction to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. Specially designed instruction means adapting, to the needs of the child, the content, methodology or delivery of instruction. The instruction is adapted as needed to address the child’s unique needs related to the child’s disability and to ensure access to the general curriculum. It is an individualized program and not a “one size fits all”.
As a parent, you are encouraged to conference with your child’s teacher or the educational diagnostician regarding your child’s needs at any time you have questions or concerns. This is especially important if you are concerned that your child is not making progress or needs more than what is being done.
You can find more information regarding special education on the web at http://www.stanton.esc18.net. On the left of the page under “Other Links”, you will see the link to the 87-20 Special Education Cooperative. You can also reach the Educational Diagnostician by calling the 87-20 SSA at 267-6013.
