Parents and Students:
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve you again as Superintendent of Schools. I am beginning my fourth year as your Superintendent and I feel that we have made great strides both academically and athletically the past three years. Again in 2015-2016 we were at the top of the accountability list as we “Met Standard Expectations” according to the Texas Education Agency. In academic competition and athletic competition we were at or near the top as well. Overall we tied for twelth in the Lone Star Cup which is a measurement used by the U.I.L. to determine how well schools in each classification do in academics, athletics, and other extracurricular activities.
Last year we formed an education committee to look at what we have done in the past and how successful it was, what we are doing now and its success and what we can do in the future to help our students to not only be better educated but to be a well- rounded student college ready or ready for the workforce when they graduate.
As we move into a new school year, the expectations do not change. We are “Mining for Gold” to excel and to prepare students to be the best they can be. We have made some changes to our school guidelines when it comes to grading policy, absences, make-up work after an absence, retention/ promotion, cell phone use at school, and computer use at school. Please take time to look carefully in the student handbook at those particular guidelines for changes we believe will result in student improvement. We can all improve with hard work, determination, and the ability to work together for a common goal. Let’s make 2016-2017 a year to remember as we strive to meet and exceed our expectations. It’s a great year to be a part of Glasscock County ISD. Go Bearkats and Lady Kats!!!
